SVM Sonic, Injective to roll out crosschain AI agent hub

Layer-1 blockchain protocol Injective and Solana Virtual Machine (SVM) blockchain Sonic are launching the Smart Agent Hub, a crosschain artificial intelligence platform. The hub will allow AI agents built on the SVM to integrate into the decentralized Injective ecosystem, and developers will be able to monetize their AI agents through tokenization and fractionalized ownership.

Hub starts with Solana

Injective expects to deploy the initial Smart Agent Hub testnet in the first quarter of 2025 with its full integration coming in phases across several months. When it is in operation, developers on Injective will be able to deploy Solana-based AI agent applications with a Remote Procedure Call.

The hub will use Sonic infrastructure and the Inter-Blockchain Communication Protocol to link the Injective WebAssembly blockchain directly with Solana. In addition, a bridge will be created to transfer Solana (SOL) and Solana-based tokens as well as wrapped and native Injective tokens.

The partnership with Sonic comes weeks after Injective introduced its iAgent software development kit, which incorporates OpenAI technology into AI agents that will analyze data, predict trends and carry out trades. Injective said in its announcement:

“This further cements Injective’s vision of a Multi-VM future where any developer can build any agent using their choice of top VMs.”

AI agents are just beginning to shine

There is ample room for AI agent growth, according to Injective. The sector has a market cap of $11.2 billion, with Fetch.ai and Virtuals Protocol accounting for over half of that sum. This compares with a $145 billion market cap in decentralized finance and $208 billion in stablecoin, Injective added.

Injective and Sonic are not alone in noticing the opportunity. Cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase has offered the Based Agent AI agent-building tool since October.
