How US crypto communities are celebrating the holidays IRL

The holidays are right around the corner, and the Bitcoin (BTC) bull run is in full swing. So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that a number of Web3 companies have major celebrations planned.

From in-person events across the United States to celebrations in the metaverse, here are the must-attend crypto parties this holiday season.

Blockchain bash in Atlanta with a Bitcoin giveaway

The Atlanta Blockchain Center is hosting a holiday party this year for A-Town’s Web3 community.

The event will take place on Dec. 19 from 6:30-8:30 pm EST at the Atlanta Blockchain Center. The celebration will feature network, trivia games and a special Bitcoin giveaway.

Marlon Williams, founder of the Atlanta Blockchain Center and Starter Labs, told Cointelegraph that the event will include a $500 Bitcoin giveaway and a chance to win “limited edition Trump crypto president sneakers,” valued at $1,000.

Williams added that events hosted by the Atlanta Blockchain Center event typically attract between 50 to 150 attendees. Yet given the festive nature of the gathering — and the bullish upswing in crypto markets — Williams anticipates a robust turnout this year. Williams added:

“These gatherings also serve as platforms for knowledge exchange, mentorship, and the formation of both professional relationships and friendships, thereby strengthening the community’s cohesion and advancing collective knowledge.”

”More IRL relationships — rather than the pseudonymous nature Satoshi spearheaded — is desperately needed in the crypto space and we are living proof!”

A bullish holiday party in San Francisco

San Francisco is making a Web3 comeback, as a number of crypto enthusiasts and builders have moved to the city over the past year.

To celebrate the holidays, the Ethereum layer-2 network Base, along with the decentralized storage protocol Walrus and decentralized network Constellation, are hosting a “bullish” holiday bash.

The event takes place on Thursday, Dec. 19, at The Howard SF from 6 to 9 pm PST. The celebration will consist of networking, music and happy hour treats, allowing the Web3 community to mix and mingle in person.

Web3 holiday celebration in Seattle

San Francisco’s sister city, Seattle, is also throwing a holiday party for the Web3 community.

Niftmint, TF Labs, Genzio and Conduit Network are hosting an event that will take place on Dec. 19 from 5:30 to 8:30 pm PST.

Jonathan G. Blanco, founder and CEO of Niftmint, told Cointelegraph that the party is a “celebration of innovation, collaboration, and the relationships that drive the crypto space forward.” He said:

“Our guests can expect great conversations, great food and drinks, and some crypto-related presents. As someone who has hosted events in prior bull markets and bear markets, it’s nice to spend the holidays together as crypto goes up!”

Space is limited — RSVP here to guarantee entry.

Crypto networking conference and toy drive in Delray Beach

The crypto community of Delray Beach, Florida, will also get to celebrate the holidays with a crypto networking conference hosted by Crypto Connect Expo.

The event will take place on Dec. 19 from 7 to 10 pm EST at Delray Beach.

The celebration will include networking and a holiday toy drive. The event will also recognize Crypto Connect’s four-year anniversary.

Decentralized Detroit holiday gathering

The Detroit blockchain community will ring in the holiday season with a “Decentralized December Holiday Party.”

The event will take place on Dec. 19 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm EST at The Elephant Room. A live DJ will pump beats all night long to keep the holiday cheer alive.

Web3 veterans and crypto-curious individuals are welcome, as the gathering will include networking and crypto-centric conversations.

Complementary specialty drinks will be provided for firstcomers. These include an “Ether Espresso” and a “Stand With Satoshirita.”

Michael Saylor’s New Year’s Eve Bitcoin extravaganza

Bitcoin bull and Microstrategy Founder, Michael Saylor, may host a New Year’s Eve party at his Miami mansion this year.

Saylor announced on CNBC last month that he is planning a “$100K Bitcoin party” on New Year’s Eve at his house.

“I’m planning the $100K Bitcoin party, and I’m thinking it’s probably going to be New Year’s Eve at my house, so I would be surprised if we don’t go through $100K in November or December,” he told the cable news network in November.

The event’s guest list will likely remain private, yet crypto enthusiasts have taken to social media platform X in hopes of scoring an invite.

This is likely to be the crypto event of the year — assuming Saylor does host the $100k Bitcoin celebration.

Holidays in the metaverse

While in-person crypto holiday gatherings are taking place across a number of cities this year, celebrations in the metaverse will also be popular.

Decentralized metaverse platforms like The Sandbox and Decentraland may even foster more genuine online connections while providing users with fun ways to attend events online.

Sebastien Borget, founder of The Sandbox, told Cointelegraph that from Dec. 18 to Jan. 31, 2025, The Sandbox will be hosting its third edition of “Season’s Greetings.” He said:

“This will feature twenty games made by brands like ‘The Smurfs’ and ‘ITV’s I Am A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!.’ Players will be invited to complete quests to earn a piece of the 300,000 SAND reward pool, as well as a Mystery Box containing exclusive prizes.”

“These could include rare collectibles like a Bored Ape NFT, a Pudgy Penguin NFT, or a playable The Sandbox avatar from partner collections like Nuclear Blast’s Blastheads, Paris Hilton, Rabbids Rockstars, and The (Snoop) Doggies.”

Borget added that The Sandbox will host a virtual New Year’s Eve Party from Dec. 31 to Jan. 2, 2025, inside the vibrant Club XYZ.

“Players will be able to complete quests that count towards our Season’s Greetings event, enjoy music from special guests DJs, and more,” Borget said.
